Join the Marching Band in 4* Easy Steps:

1. Fill out the Membership Application

There is NO AUDITION* to be in the UConn Marching Band. The membership application is a quick form that just gives us your general information.  The form should take no longer than five minutes to complete! Please note all students seeking to join must be able to move in with the UCMB on Monday, August 24th, 2026, for the start of Preseason (band camp). Students unable to move in on that date will not be able to move in until the normal move-in date.

Membership Applications will be close on June 8th, 2026, at 11:59PM.

*An audition is required to join the Drumline, Front Ensemble, or Color Guard. Auditions take place during Summer camps. Click here to find out more about Percussion camps. Click here to find out more about Color Guard camps.

2. Register for MUSI 1108

When you go through your New Student Orientation, make sure to register for MUSI 1108 - Marching Band. If you have classes that conflict with marching band rehearsals which do not allow you to register immediately, do not worry! Send an email to ucmb@uconn.edu and we will help you get everything sorted!

3. Complete the Membership Contract

After we have received your membership application, we will submit your name for preseason housing. We will then send you the Membership Contract on Monday, June 8th. Membership Contracts will be due Monday, June 15th, 2026, at 11:59PM. Completing this form cements your spot in the UConn Marching Band!

4. Complete the Housing Confirmation (On-Campus students only)

Once you have submitted all of the necessary forms with the correct information, for those that are living on campus, UConn Housing will send you an email on Friday, June 26th with a form that you must fill out and submit to confirm your early housing. That form will be due Friday, July 31st, 2026. If you complete this process properly, there will be NO CHARGE to you for early housing.

Join the Pep Band:

1. Fill out the Pep Band Membership Application

Fill out the membership application to indicate your intention to join the UConn Pep Band. The membership application closes August 30th, 2026, at 11:59PM.

2. Submit an Audition

After submitting the preliminary information form, you will receive an invitation to audition. There are two options for auditions: In-person Auditions and Video Auditions. If you intend on being considered for any travel or additional performance opportunities, you MUST complete an in-person audition. In-person auditions will occur in early September. Those that do not get a spot in a travel band may be placed in Husky Band.

If you intend on only auditioning for Husky Band (non-travel, but access to all home games), you may submit a video audition. Audition materials will be sent out to those that have submitted a membership application.

3. Register for MUSI 1109 (Fall and Spring)

When registering for classes during orientation (or on your own), you will need to enroll in MUSI 1109, as enrollment in the Pep Band class is required for all students. If you have classes that conflict with pep band rehearsals which do not allow you to register immediately, do not worry! Send an email to ucmb@uconn.edu and we will help you get everything sorted!
